The highest mountain peak in Thailand is “Doi Inthanon.” The summit is at an elevation of 2,565 meters (8,415 feet) above sea level. It’s 100 kilometers from Chiang Mai city and takes about 2 hours to drive there. The weather is cooling all season.
When visiting Chiang Mai, I recommend including this trip on your bucket list. It could be a one-day excursion or a two-day excursion. It’s a fantastic and beautiful natural scene.
The road is quite steep up and down, and too many Thai tourists visit in December and January. Avoid this situation and hire a professional driver to accompany you.
I enjoy coming here during the Green Season, which runs from June to October and is very peaceful. We don’t rush and take our time to enjoy a relaxing day.
Overview
A full-day tour to Doi Inthanon National Park provides panoramic views of Northern Thailand’s mountains. Visit a local market of the Hmong hill tribe and explore the waterfalls. Bring a light jacket with you because the mountain top is cool and the weather changes frequently.

This activity is an example of a one-day trip to the mountains and back. You can drive this route in your car, but you’ll need to be skilled at driving on a mountain road that twists and turns, is steep, and has a large crowd gathered outside.

Chiang Mai is a popular tourist destination, with many Thai tourists arriving by car during the cooler months. As a result, Thailand’s holiday weekend sees an increase in traffic accidents. There were many cars overturned and losing control on the road down from Doi Inthanon. The reason is that they have no prior experience driving in various locations, particularly in mountainous terrain.
Please keep in mind that driving on a mountain road requires skill and experience.
